The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a time-limited opportunity for people enrolled in Marketplace plans, who should have enrolled in Medicare Part B when they first turned 65.
Some people never enrolled in Medicare Part B because they were confused about their Marketplace coverage, tax credits and subsidies.
Because Medicare Part B has a monthly premium, a Medicare-eligible person, who delays or declines Part B enrollment, could be charged a permanent monthly penalty, in addition to the Medicare Part B premium.
Good News - There is an opportunity to request Equitable Relief from the Social Security Administration for a person who made a Part B error to request retro-active Part B enrollment and/or not be charged a Part B penalty.

This opportunity is available to people until March 31, 2017.
